MILTON The Legend!!

This is going to be a difficult post for me to make. I try to keep certain things in my life fairly private, but at this time I’m pretty much forced to talk about the reality of Milton and my life. Milton, the true love of my life, will be celebrating his 63rd birthday on May 21. Then a couple weeks later on June 4 we will be celebrating Milton & my 48th year anniversary together. Most people know some of our story up until recently. Let me get started. Back in October during Hurricane Milton, Milton became unable to stand or walk. I rushed him to Tampa General Hospital where he stayed for 9 days. Then he was admitted to Tampa General Hospital Rehabilitation Center for 12 days. He was diagnosed with Down Syndrome related Dementia. Milt was released on November 6, and we needed 24/7 Healthcare Professionals to be here. At $528 a day (which is a pretty good rate with an agency), for the first 3 months it was going to be quite expensive. But thankfully a very dear friend/extended family member stepped up for the first 6 months. I don’t need to mention his name, but most people can probably figure out who it is. When Milton first got home on November 6, a physical therapist came to evaluate him and thought he might never stand or walk again. Well, the therapist didn’t know Big Milt or the Boddy Shoppe Gym know-how. By the third day, we were able to get Milton up and walking a handful of steps with assistance from two people and a gait belt. He is now able to walk with one person assisting him holding his arm. We have gotten to the point where I only need help 12 -13 hours a day. It’s a lot of work, but I’m not scared of work. I only leave my house for 45 minutes a week. At almost 72 years old I can still pass for 69 years old, lol!! The reason for this post is that I need to raise money to help with Milton’s care. if I can raise $55- $60,000, I can stretch it out for close to a year. I’ll be doing a GoFundMe in the next few days, but I thought I would reach out before that to see if Milt can count on financial support from Family, Friends, & Acquaintances. “It takes a Village.” I have set up a separate bank account for Milton where I have been depositing money specifically for “Milton’s healthcare”. Most people who know me in life and through social media, know that I never tell anyone “NO”. To make a donation, I have a Venmo account and also the old-fashioned way of sending a check in the mail. I thank everyone in advance who love and care about Milton, and his well-being. I will always make sure, as I always have, that my boy has the best of everything. To help, please reach out to me or to Jacquelyn. Milton sends everyone his love ❤️.
