Milton Searles Memorial Scholarship Fund

My husband, Milton (Milt) Jones Searles passed away on January 11, 2022. Milton was a loving family man and loyal friend. During his European travels in 1971, he and I met at a chance encounter at a train station in Basel, Switzerland. Milton and I married in 1973 in the Netherlands. In our 48 years of marriage, we raised two sons, Mikael and Niklas. Milt is remembered for his dedication to education, his passion for bicycling, his love of the great outdoors, and his enjoyment of gardening.

After graduating from West Chester University, Milton began his career in education at his alma mater Coatesville High School in 1964. Over the next 40 years in the district, he taught Spanish to countless students. After retirement in 2004, he continued his teaching career at the college level, becoming a Spanish professor at Montgomery and Delaware County Community Colleges for another 16 years.

We have started a scholarship for a worthy senior at Coatesville Senior HS to honor Milton’s 40 years as a teacher in the District. We are reaching out to his family & friends, former students, and co-workers to solicit donations to honor his legacy.

We hope you will support his work and his name by contributing.
