You may or may not know that my little sister Makenzie is the writer in our family. She is gifted and disciplined at finding a myriad of ways to communicate in print eloquently. Therefore, she is my go-to for advice when I want to say something meaningful without the distraction of my questionable grammar and spelling. But I'm writing this important message to you without her help today because she and her family received some devastating news last week. Within the last week, Matt and Makenzie are attempting to grapple with their 5-year-old son Milo's B-cell Leukemia diagnosis and him beginning chemotherapy. As Matt and Makenzie are trying to navigate this scary new journey with Milo, they also have other responsibilities as parents to two-year-old Lucy in addition to figuring out work and household responsibilities. My hope and desire are to help cushion them from as many logistical worries as possible so that they can devote their energy where it is most needed. You may want to give because you know this fantastic family or just because you think cancer sucks, especially when it happens to a sweet, caring, and creative 5-year old. For whatever you can give, I know the whole Halbert-Howen family will greatly appreciate your generosity and willingness to help Milo and his family heal.
