Anyone that knows my partner and I knows that our pets are our babies. Unfortunatly monday june 29th ended in us visiting the emergency for one of our babies, our 11 year old shihtzhu mix Milo. His breathing was a bit laboured and he wasn't acting himself. We rushed him to the emergency at the WCVM where they determined he has a rare but potentially fatal condition, a torsed lung lobe. We opted to try surgery, he has made it through and is recovering surprisingly quickly ( already removed chest tube and is breathing without added oxygen). The estimate our vets gave us was 6000, which so far had been an ultrasound, chest tap, blood transfusion, CT scan, surgery, and supportive in clinic care. We thought he would have to stay in care for a few days of recovery but because of how well he is progressing this far we may get our boy home as soon as Thursday july 2nd. We were able to put down a deposit but we had been saving that money to put towards the dental surgery for our senior ferret and neuter for our bunny. This Is why we decided to make a GoFundMe and see if small donations can add up and help us handle this unexpected emergency which was 3 times as much as we had saved to go towards our other pets surgeries. We did this because we want to maintain the level of care that each of our family members deserves. If you choose to donate or just make your support known and let us know your rooting for him, it is greatly appreciated. We will be posting updates of his recovery.
