Milo ivdd recovery

Hi, please read our story and donate if you can.

Milo our 3 year old dachshund was a healthy happy little dog up until the 2 July when he started to seem a bit off, after going out to the garden that afternoon Milo come in and we noticed he was dragging his back leg, we immediately contacted our vet and took him in, the vet checked Milo over and diagnosed Milo with ivdd and recommended conservative care. We brought Milo home ready for home care, but unfortunately within a matter of hours Milo had significantly deteriorated and lost all movement in his back legs and his bowels and bladder, we rushed Milo back into the vet where she referred us onto a bigger hospital. The RVC (which I may add was absolutely amazing) admitted Milo and done an mri scan and it was confirmed Milo had stage 5 ivdd from a slipped disk in his back. Milo was taken to surgery on the 4 July. The surgery went well with no complications. Milo remained in the hospital until today. He has been discharged home for us to care for him. So far he is doing well. He is still not able to walk and is on strict crate rest. Milo is going to need pyshiotherapy and hydrotherapy once he has healed a little. His still not able to control his bladder but we are hoping in time this will improve. As you can imagine Milo’s operation fell nothing short of very expensive which we had insurance unfortunately his bill exceeded the amount of his insurance, we have covered some bill ourselves and settled the bill for the vet trips but as you can imagine this hasn’t come cheap, hence the reasoning for this go fund me. We are hoping to be able to raise funds to get Milo the pyshio and hydrotherapy as after his operation has healed and cover the remainder of his vet bills as our funds are now exhausted. I would greatly appreciate anything big or small towards his recovery. Thank you for reading Milo’s story and I am hoping I will be able to update this story in the future with news of our little Milo regaining the ability to walk and having our happy, playful doggo back to himself, walking and comfortable ❤️
