Millsy's Recover Fund

Hello,

First, we would like to thank you for all your donations, shares, and support during this difficult time. Our family has created this go fund me for Sarah Mills, fondly known to many as Millsy. Millsy just celebrated her 28th birthday in June. On July 23rd, she was in an accident. We believe her tierod broke while rounding a corner. Her car spun out of control before crashing into a guardrail, which rolled over two times before landing upside down. The emergency team had to use the 'jaws of life' to extricate her from the vehicle so she could be airlifted to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, Vermont.

Surely, you can imagine Millsy has suffered severe injuries. Including broken bones, lacerations, crushed and fractured vertebrae, and a badly bruised spinal cord which has left her paralyzed from the chest down. On top of all this, Millsy suffered the loss of her paternal grandmother, Jean Mills, 2 days after her accident while she was still intubated. While grieving her grandmother's loss and paralysis, she also lost her beloved senior rescue dog, Potato. Before the accident, Millsy would walk her dogs daily and often hiked. She frequented amusement parks to ride roller coasters. Millsy is a devoted aunt, loving dog mom and beloved by her friends, family and customers. She worked full-time as a cashier at Jiffy Mart. She has enjoyed working since her adolescence and her entire adult life. This is a big reason why she hopes to regain mobility. She has often been heard saying, "I just want to go back to work; how will I work now?"

We have come together to ensure she is well cared for. Currently, we are asking for donations towards travel, food and lodging. Our next move is to get Millsy to a rehabilitation center in Boston, Massachusetts. There, we believe she will have her best chance at regaining mobility. We want to keep everyone updated as time progresses and Millsy's needs and prognosis become clearer. Although our goals, prayers, and hopes are that she will regain mobility, we may need to increase the donation goal. To help with medical costs, extended travel costs and any future equipment needs. Depending on her rehabilitation, we may need a handicap-accessible van and other in-home modifications and equipment. Millsy needs this to get better, back home and adjust to a new “normal” everyday life.
