Hi Everyone!
My name is Vanessa and I am hoping that you can help me get Millie some serious tlc that she is in desperate need of.
I found Millie about two months ago in Concord Ca near my home. She was in bad shape, neglected, underweight, not chipped or spayed, had horrible mats, a skin infection and more. She’s a senior and has recently had puppies. I reported Millie to the county and posted online to see if she belonged anywhere. The thirty day wait for her owner to claim her quickly passed. I didn’t want to take her to the shelter as so many animals aren’t making it out right now.
I have been in contact with several rescues in the area but everyone is in a tight spot with shelters bursting at the seams. So many animals are being euthanized everyday that rescues need to focus on those lives first which is completely understandable. So for now, Millie is staying with our family.
Millie is an amazing dog! So smart, sweet and according to my husband, “aggressively snuggly.” She’s good with other dogs but has unfortunately been trying to herd my cats. This is why Millie is technically my foster dog because as of now with how she reacts to my cats, we cannot keep her even though we are totally bonded. I can’t afford a trainer to help and my basic training knowledge isn’t a match for her extreme border collie instinct.
But until we find Millie her forever home or she magically stops herding my cats, she needs some medical attention that can’t wait for either of those things to happen.
Millie’s vet quoted about $1500 to $2000 for dental work. Her lower k9s and incisors need to be pulled for sure and the rest need a closer look. She needs to be spayed, microchipped and given all of her vaccines. We’ve already been to the vet a couple times and now have her skin infections mostly under control. She’s eating great food and has gained 10 lbs!
If you are able to help, it would be greatly appreciated by Millie and our family. And honestly, anything helps! If you can’t, I completely understand. Maybe you can just say hi to Millie if
you see us around. She loves the love!
much thanks,
Vanessa
