Millie’s journey to Mayo Clinic
Donation protected
I am Millie’s mom Juleah. Millie is a beautiful kiddo who has had a lifetime of confusing illnesses that have made her quite sick, unable to grow and gain weight, left her dizzy and nauseated, she has regular joint dislocations and falls, infections and constant pain. She has been accepted into Mayo Clinic for her diagnosis of Dysautonomia/POTS, pancreatic insufficiency, redundant colon, chronic pain, constipation, reoccurring UTI, inability to regulate body temperature and blood pressure, chronic fatigue and failure to thrive. She has ASD and Ehlers Danlos as well.
She is an incredibly resilient and wonderful kiddo who has multiple medical teams in 4 major hospitals in Los Angeles. She lives to make her art, designs and music. But she is struggling and mostly chair and bed bound for most of her days. She needs extra care that only Mayo Clinic can give her. We have been waiting to get in since this summer and they are finally able to see her early December. As many people know, Mayo Clinic won’t see you unless there is a good reason for you to be seen and the doctors agree to take you as a patient.
It isn’t easy for me to ask for help and I know a lot of people are also struggling to get by. So, I’m seeking this out of necessity as my only means to get Millie to these appointments. Millie’s medical and private insurance expenses have been more than I can handle on my own. I am fortunate to have loved ones who have helped in every way they can. I don’t feel I can burden them with asking more. Millie’s most recent health decline has kept me close by 24/7. Often having to stay within 5 mins of her school on the days she can try to make it as long as she can. Which has made any additional income I was making incredibly difficult to have the time for.
A week at Mayo is expensive for us. We will need airfare, hotel, transportation, food and a new travel wheelchair/walker for her to get around more comfortably.
We will send Millie stickers (one of her character designs) and a thank you note to anyone who includes an address in their donation (email address is fine if you would like to be contacted for a mailing address and not have it be public) We will also post updates and photos of Millie’s Mayo Clinic week when we are there.
Thank you for your time in reading about Millie and Thank you to anyone who is able to help!!
