Hello, I'm Meghan and I'd like to introduce you to my daughter, Millie. Millie is a sassy 4 year old who was born with a series of heart defects, that can pretty much be summed up as "hypoplastic left heart syndrome" which pretty much means that the left side of her heart never fully formed and does not function at all, in Millie's case. She has had 2 open heart surgeries, one at 7 days old, and one at 3 months old, and now will have her third surgery (the Fontan procedure) on January 18th at Texas Children's Hospital. This surgery is the 3rd and final surgery in this specific process to help her heart not have go work as hard. We were told by her surgeon that the recovery process after this surgery is usually a 7-10 day hospital stay, but could be longer depending on Millie's needs and progress after the surgery.
We were hoping to have her surgery at the end of last year, due to insurance deductibles, etc., but Millie caught a cold a few weeks before her surgery date late November, so for her safety and the best outcome of the surgery, her surgery had to be pushed back 9 weeks, which brings us to our current surgery date of January 18th.
All of that to say, we are asking for any help we can get to cover medical costs not covered by insurance, plus food, parking, etc.
