Hi, my name is Millie Phillips, I’m 14, and I am a member of Girlguiding Bristol & South Gloucestershire (BSG).

I have set up this page because I have been given a life-changing opportunity, and I am working incredibly hard to make it a reality.

Recently, I took part in a competitive selection process alongside 66 other young women from across our county. I am so proud to share that I am one of just 16 girls chosen to represent Girlguiding BSG on an international expedition to Iceland in 2027.

This 12-day expedition is designed to push my boundaries and help me grow into a confident, independent woman. Our journey will take us across the "Land of Fire and Ice":

We start with 5 days at Úlfljótsvatn for Camp Everlight, a massive Jamboree where I’ll join thousands of Scouts and Guides from all over the world.

We then head to Akureyri to experience the wild beauty of Northern Iceland from whale watching and zip-lining through the trees to visiting thermal spas.

Community is at the heart of this trip. While in Akureyri, we will be volunteering our time to help improve the local scout camp as a way of saying "thank you" for their hospitality.

We’ll finish with two days exploring the culture and history of the capital, Reykjavík, before flying home.

This experience is about so much more than just travel. By representing Girlguiding BSG on the global stage, I will be building my independence and my confidence to lead others, and having a voice to advocate for young women. The friendships I make across the world will stay with me forever, and the skills I gain will allow me to give back even more to my local Guiding unit when I return.

To get there, I have a personal fundraising target of £2,700. This covers everything from my flights and insurance to the camp fees and activities. I will be doing lots of fundraising activities leading up to the trip.
