Millie the Corgi Needs Your Help

Donation protected

I have been sitting here trying to formulate my thoughts – but no words seem quite right enough and every time I sit down to write this it feels impossible. Last night at about 2am, Millie fell off my bed and tragically broke the growth plate in her right back leg, leaving her unable to walk and in an unbearable amount of pain.

This was such a devastating, random freak accident that left my heart shattered for my best friend. I rushed her immediately to the vet and sat in the waiting room until 4 in the morning; only to be told that she needed immediate surgery if she was ever going to be able to heal properly and walk without pain again. The only thing that stands between me and helping Millie is $6000 dollars. It is an estimated $4800-$5000 for surgery and the short time she has already spent in the vet has costed $700. I maxed out my credit card and drained my savings in order to pay the deposit to schedule her for surgery, but I still need help. I still owe the other half of the money and I now have nothing left to my name. I am asking for your help. Anything helps, it is money that will go straight to helping Millie.

I am struggling to even ask for money, especially a sum this large, but I would not be asking if I did not truly need it. I am an (extremely) broke college student who wants to do everything in her power to help her best friend, and sometimes that means swallowing your pride.

I would not be asking if Millie didn’t need this and if she wasn’t one of the best things to happen to me. Millie is honestly the biggest light in my life and I thank god every day for her coming into my life during a time I needed her the most. Losing two of my grandmas within six months this last year left me in a pain that only Millie was able to help. She is what has kept me same through my grieving process and keeping me accountable as I finish my double science degree at Grand Valley. This dog is quite literally everything to me and pretty much anyone she comes into contact with. Anyone who meets Millie is touched by her vibrant personality and her insane need to shower every person she meets with puppy kisses. Millie is my best friend and so many others, which is why I am doing everything in my power to make sure she is no longer in pain and heals properly.

Millie is currently receiving care at Blue Pearl Animal Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I have posted the estimated cost of surgery and an updated photo of Millie at the vet below.
