Millie Cowan is a 97-year-old fighter. An independent grandma known for her strong spirit and kind heart, Millie fearlessly raised her grandson Nic from birth since his mother Connie was sick, Connie ultimately passing away when Nic was a teenager. Millie has always been the rock for her family, but now she needs help. After a recent episode left her in an unexpected state of decline, Millie’s dementia has advanced to such a degree that she needs 24-hour care beyond what her family can provide in person.


In her best interest, the decision was made to move Millie into “Board and Care.” Basically, it’s a house in a residential area that provides 24/7 care to a small group of residents. She will get assistance with dressing, bathing, meal preparations, medication management, incontinence support, etc. all in a home-like setting. This individual attention given to each resident is vital, and she’s already thriving in her new home.

 

Millie’s family is grateful to find a place that meets their standards of cleanliness. Most importantly, the caregivers are excellent and go above and beyond to support her needs. The caregivers are compassionate and professional. Under these new conditions, Millie has had surprising new energy within her. She is happy and content. Her family now needs your help keeping her there.

 

This GoFundMe will raise money to help offset the costs of board and care while waiting for Millie’s house to sell. We ask for $15,500 to cover the additional funds needed for six months of board and care. Any funds raised beyond $15,500 will go toward medical expenses and supplemental needs for Millie as they come.
