Update: 6/19

Millie is home!  We are happy to let everyone know she is home and healing.  Read update below for details.  

My name is Jane, my friend Laura and her year six old daughter Millie are in the midst of great uncertainty and are humbly asking for help even though pride is saying no. On Sunday, June 11th, Millie went to the hospital for pain and numbness in her legs when she moved. She was transferred to Minneapolis Children's Hospital that same day, to undergo IV, bloodwork, x-rays, lumbar puncture and an MRI. Of of today 6/15 6:00 pm, she is still in the hospital with very few answers and sadly developed more issues. She began having seizures, which are staying consistent, spiked temp and GI issues. She has an upset tummy and gets diarrhea when she has food. A lymes test came back negative and MRI showed nothing to guide the doctors. There will be a neuro specialist joining her team on 6/15 and we pray this doctor can get some answers. Millie is using a walker to get some exercise but needs to be very careful as her ankles and knees tend to buckle.  She has also had an endoscopy and colonscopy with no results or guidance to what is going on.  

During this time, her pregnant and single mom Laura has not left her side. This means that Laura is missing work which means not getting paid. Her work does not offer PTO, only sick time. The sick time that she did have, was used up earlier when Millie was sick with flu-type symptoms. This amplifies the stress because now she is worried about what will happen when September is here, she has a newborn and all the savings she had is depleted.

I suggested this fundraiser, and while Laura was hesitant due to her pride and being embarrassed to have to ask for help, she eventually agreed. We discussed that no parent should have to choose between a child and work. I told her that indeed, her family needs to come first and God will provide through amazing and generous people.

Money donated will be used to cover lost wages due to being in the hospital by her daughter's side. It will make sure the rent gets paid, that car payments do not fall behind and any other living expenses that may potentially build up. These donations will also be used to cover any unpaid medical expenses that are adding up quickly.  Currently on day 5 at Children's Hospital with specialist,  anesthesia, and all other tests.

Beyond financial needs, I am asking you to please pray. Pray for Laura to be comforted, for Millie to endure all the tests and pain that might be coming her way, and for the doctors to find answers and a plan to get Millie back to feeling well and for her legs to work correctly.
