Elaine Rosa Salo Assistance Fund
Donation protected
Hello Everyone,
My name is Brianna Weeks and I am starting this account to help raise money to assist the Miller family with costs associated with the death of Elaine Rosa Salo. Miles (her son) and I met in Cape Town, South Africa while I was in the Peace Corps almost two years ago and I had gotten to know his family, including his mother Elaine quite well. Elaine, Colin, and Jessica moved to Delaware in January of 2014 as Elaine was offered an associate professorship at the University of Delaware where she taught in the Politic Science Department.
Last summer Elaine battled a re-emergence of cancer that had been in remission for many years. She fought bravely and recovered. Sadly, last month that cancer returned and despite Elaine's courage and positivity her condition deteriorated rapidly and she passed rather suddenly on Saturday (August 13). She leaves behind so many who have been touched by her as a teacher, activist, wife and mother of two (Miles-25) and Jessica 12).
As a majority of her family still resides in South Africa and Italy, I am humbly asking for donations to assist with travel and accommodation costs associated with bringing the family together as well as laying her ashes to rest in her home country of South Africa.
Any support shown is deeply appreciated be it financial or otherwise.
Thank you,
