Miles to Recovery: Help Bring Him Home

Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,
It is often impossible to sum up a man in one word, but a select few have done enough in life that ONLY one word is appropriate for their description: Superman. Imran Jaghoori is one such man.
Imran’s dedication to service knows no bounds. At the risk of his life, he served with U.S. Department of Defense (D.O.D.) and Department of State (D.O.S.) efforts in Afghanistan for nearly two decades, helping establish educational infrastructure, trauma centers for the oppressed and marginalized ethnic minority women, and employment opportunities for hundreds of Afghan civilians. He was part of the first wave to enter Afghanistan and the last to get out after the Afghan government collapsed.
Imran’s passion for helping strangers makes him not only an exemplary humanitarian but a wonderful human. During 2021, Imran volunteered to deploy with Spartan Sword and Widows & Orphans (both non-profit organizations) to help Afghans seeking refuge from the war of Afghanistan in Tajikistan under the direct supervision of Tajik authorities and approval. This deployment followed after two months of personally guiding the evacuation of six individuals out of Afghanistan to America. Imran directed the arrangements for medical care, providing winter clothing and blankets, basic hygiene needs for refugees stranded in Tajikistan. Imran has saved more lives in the past three years than his age but he has inspired thousands more to be good human beings to each other.
After his mission with the Spartan Sword and Widows & Orphans, he saw the need for service once more; he became involved with and was at the forefront of humanitarian efforts with the United States Conference Catholic Bishops (USCCB) when the U.S. was flooded with Afghan refugees. As a Youth and Cultural Orientation Officer, he prepared and delivered language, driver’s ed, and cultural assimilation classes. He also helped with therapeutic services for trauma stricken children and youth. Often, he stayed until the early hours of the morning to console the refugees, help them connect with their left-behind family members, and assist them in navigating the complex resettlement routes. He was a one-man army.
Imran is a passionate nature lover. On Sunday, October 13, unfortunately, he suffered a severe accident while hiking in Arizona. He fell nearly 25 feet, resulting in significant damage to his C4 and C5 vertebrae that has the potential to severely impact his mobility. Although he’s stable, his injuries require ongoing medical care, and he needs help with transportation from Arizona to Virginia to receive the care and support he needs.
Unfortunately, Imran does not have health insurance, and the costs associated with his transport and medical care are overwhelming. Transporting him safely from Arizona to Virginia requires specialized medical assistance, which is extremely expensive.
We’re reaching out to ask for your help. Any donation, no matter how small, will bring us closer to our goal of getting my uncle home where he can heal surrounded by his family. Your contributions will go directly toward his medical transport, care, and recovery process.
We deeply appreciate your support, prayers, and generosity during this difficult time. Thank you for helping us bring him home.
