Miles' Story:

At our 20-week anatomy scan, we learned of our sweet boy's cleft lip and palate. Miles was born with a bilateral cleft lip and cleft palate with over 90% of his palate missing. He spent the first few weeks of his life in the NICU with respiratory issues and learning to eat. Miles is almost 4 months old now, and we are starting his cleft lip repair. He will be undergoing reconstructive surgery for a lip repair and rhinoplasty on August 15th, 2025, and then he will have his first palate repair in January 2026. Having a bilateral cleft lip and cleft palate is not only a cosmetic repair but a whole childhood full of multiple surgeries and lots of different therapies. In his first 2 years of life, Miles will have anywhere from 3-4 major surgeries and many more as he grows. He has been blessed with an amazing cleft team in Oklahoma City with 9 doctors that we are so grateful for, but the financial side is adding up. With his extended NICU stay and I myself, his mother, also hospitalized for post-eclampsia, there is no more PTO to help cover the time off needed for Miles' surgery, recovery, and post-op appointments. We are a one-income household as I'm needed to be home to take care of Miles and his special care needs.

This GoFundMe will help our family be able to pay for things not covered by insurance like medications, post-op devices needed like splints and oral devices, and therapy. This will also help us pay for bills, gas, food, and lodging to and from Oklahoma City (a 3-hour drive) to see his cleft team and for surgeries and appointments as well as the time off work needed to be with him.
