A Car Means Work, Health, and Hope
Hi, my name is Rubi and I just turned 35 years old. I don’t usually ask for help, but I am at a point where I feel overwhelmed and lost.
I am the sole provider for my household and also living with kidney failure. I do peritoneal dialysis at home every day and I am waiting for a kidney transplant. Between working full-time and managing my health, my car has become a constant struggle—it breaks down often and I can no longer depend on it.
Having a reliable car is more than just transportation for me. I drive about 30 miles each way to work, and my dialysis clinic and many other medical appointments are far from my home. I do not qualify for Medicare and cannot access free rides, so without a dependable car, I risk losing both my income and access to the care I need.
The stress of worrying whether my car will get me to work or to a life-saving appointment has been weighing heavily on me. I am asking for help so I can purchase a reliable vehicle that will allow me to keep supporting my family, continue working, and get to my medical care safely.
Any donation, no matter the size, will make a huge difference in my life. If you can’t donate, sharing my story means the world to me. Thank you so much for reading. Your kindness and support during this difficult time is everything.
With gratitude,
Rubi
