Miles Making Smiles

My name is Sam Van Straten, and I am a junior at the University of Notre Dame, studying science/business to prepare me for dental school and more importantly, to make a difference in the health and lives of people in my community!

Miles Making Smiles (MMS) is an idea of mine to raise money to purchase a much-needed portable dental X-ray unit to provide dental care to children through the Brown County Oral Health Partnership for Children program. This portable x-ray unit will be used onsite in area schools for children who do not have the opportunity to visit local dentist offices.

 I am going to run my FIRST MARATHON EVER (26.2 MILES) in Madison, WI this November 13th for the sole purpose of reaching my true goal -- raising $7,500 to make the portable x-ray unit a reality for the children in Brown County.
