Miles for Mom - The Walk of Life

My name is Andrew Hyatt, and I’m conducting this fundraiser on behalf of my five-year-old daughter, Samantha Hyatt. Samantha is in 4K in the Monona Grove School District. She’s a kind and loving little girl who’s active in ballet, chasing our dogs around the house and tugging on the heartstrings of her grandmothers. She is artistic, fashionable, well-spoken, and loved very much by all who know her.

 

In May of 2021, Samantha’s mother, Jan Hyatt (Hogoboom), was killed due to a brutal domestic violence incident at her home in Sun Prairie. The reality and finality are still hard for me and others to understand and accept. Samantha misses her mom, has warm and vibrant memories and believes her mom watches over her in spirit. Thankfully, Samantha hasn’t lost her smile and ability to be a happy little girl; she accepts that her mom cannot be with her physically in this lifetime.

 

We want to raise money to create a little nest egg that Samantha will have access to later in life that may be used for college, her wedding, children, or any other life challenge that may come her way. Samantha's response to the idea of raising money was, "what are we going to give the people who give me money?" Her heart wants to give back, and that's precisely the kind of person I want her to be. We will donate half of whatever is raised to surviving victims of a similar tragedy to meet both goals.

 

This fundraiser is being done in conjunction with an event I've organized called "Miles for Mom - The Walk of Life." I plan to walk about 90 miles from Madison to our family farm in Richland County to remember and honor Jan while shining light on her and the daughter she was forced to leave behind. The walk will begin on June 27th (Jan's birthday) and conclude on July 2nd at the farm. See the link below for more details.
