When someone you love begins to disappear in front of you, you realise dementia doesn’t just affect one person — it reshapes an entire family.
This July, Graham, Matthew and I will be cycling LEJOG over 10 days to raise money for Dementia UK, a charity that has become deeply personal to us as my wife’s father lives with dementia.
The challenge of riding from Land’s End to John O’Groats will be tough, but it is nothing compared to the daily reality faced by families living with dementia — the uncertainty, the exhaustion, and the heartbreak of watching someone you love slowly change.
What makes Dementia UK so important is that they don’t just support the person with dementia; they support the whole family. Their Admiral Nurses provide guidance, compassion, and expertise at the moments people need it most.
Every mile I ride is for families walking this road right now. Every donation, no matter the size, helps ensure more people have someone to turn to when they feel lost and overwhelmed.
If you’re able to support the ride, thank you. Your kindness will genuinely make a difference.
