Miles for Liz ❤️ In May 2024, our mum, Liz O’Hagan, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Endometrial Cancer. Over the following two years, our family experienced first-hand the extraordinary care, compassion and kindness of so many healthcare professionals, charities and volunteers. They supported not only Mum, but all of us, during the most difficult time of our lives. Mum passed away on St Patrick’s Day 2026, aged 67. Rather than simply saying thank you, we wanted to do something meaningful in her memory. That’s why we created Miles for Liz. Organised by Liz’s family, primarily her sons Shane, Ciaran, Damian, TJ & Brendan O’Hagan and daughter Claire Daly, Miles for Liz brought together family, friends and our wider community in a collective effort to raise funds for organisations that have made a real difference to our family and so many others.

 Thanks to the incredible support of everyone involved, we have now successfully completed:
 * A Triple Ironman
* The Four Peaks Challenge
* A series of community fundraising events Every challenge, every mile and every event had one goal - to give something back to the organisations that cared so much for Mum and continue to support countless other families.

Where will the money go? All funds raised through Miles for Liz will be shared between four organisations:
 1. Friends of the Cancer Centre To support the charity’s ongoing work providing vital care, practical assistance and emotional support to cancer patients and their families.
 2. Omagh Hospital Palliative Care Unit To support the provision of compassionate palliative care, helping to enhance the comfort, dignity and experience of patients and their families during extremely difficult times.
 3. Care for Cancer, Omagh To help fund local services offering practical assistance, emotional support and guidance to people affected by cancer and their loved ones.
 4. St Patrick’s Primary School Parents’ Association, Eskra To support the Parents’ Association in providing educational resources, activities and opportunities that benefit pupils and the wider school community.

 Who is organising the fundraiser and how will the funds be distributed? Miles for Liz is a family-led fundraising initiative, organised primarily by Shane O’Hagan and Claire Daly, the son and daughter of Liz O’Hagan, with the support of family, friends and the wider community. The four organisations named above are the intended beneficiaries of the fundraiser.

 All donations received through GoFundMe will be withdrawn into a designated bank account used to manage the Miles for Liz fundraising proceeds. Shane and Claire, on behalf of the family, will coordinate the distribution of the funds to the four beneficiary organisations. The funds will be distributed directly to the organisations through formal cheque presentations, with the corresponding payments made from the designated account. These presentations will be held publicly, with photographs and media coverage arranged to recognise the generosity of everyone who contributed and to provide transparency about where the money has gone. The money raised will be used to support the healthcare, charitable and community purposes outlined above. No funds are intended for the personal benefit of the organisers or family. A record of the amounts distributed to each organisation will be maintained, and the final donations will be publicly acknowledged. Thank you ❤️

 Although our fundraising challenges are now complete, the purpose behind Miles for Liz remains as important as ever. This has always been about remembering Mum, celebrating her life and recognising the extraordinary kindness shown to her and our family. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has taken part, donated, volunteered, cheered us on or supported Miles for Liz in any way.
