We sadly lost a huge part of our club last year, with the agreement of his family we will be having some events to raise money in the memory of Dennis Green. We also are in desperate need of fundraising to continue the running of our cricket section.

If you knew Dennis or you didn’t, you would have heard of him. He lived with cancer for 7 years and 6 months, around 2735 days… As a section we are walking or running 2,735 miles in August — one mile for each day that our beloved Dennis lived with cancer. In this 7 and a half years he still gave everything to the club, doing the ground, watching the games he could and giving positive criticism from the boundary. And now it’s our turn to give back, in his memory.

Our aim is to raise money for a plaque or bench for Dennis, somewhere for us to remember him and also to support the future of our cricket section.

We will have at least 40 participants in our August fundraiser which works out at 70 miles per person. Our head coach has said if we hit 50% of our fundraising target before the start of August he will walk 10 miles per day!

There will be continued events which we will continue to post about so keep watch!

We look forward to creating a memorial space and raising enough to sustain our cricket section and keep improving to be able to give back to the community.

We appreciate any participating, donations or sharing!
