Miles for a Mission: KMW for RMHC!!
Donation protected
After finishing my first year of medical school, I’ve decided to take on the challenge of running the 2026 Houston Marathon—not just for the miles, but for a mission. The marathon is on January 11, 2026, and I’ll be running to support Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), a cause that has deeply impacted me personally and deepened my understanding of how a child’s illness impacts an entire family.
Childhood illness goes beyond the patient—it’s the sleepless nights, the financial strain, the emotional weight of parents being far away from home and worrying about the kids and spouse they left for extended periods. I've personally experienced the reality of being a sibling of a sick child and understand that support is needed far beyond hospital walls. Growing up with a sick sibling inspired my weekly volunteering at RMHC. My first-hand experience has shown me the reality a family faces when dealing with a chronically or terminally sick kiddo and has aligned my personal calling with the RMHC mission.
Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is an organization that eases the financial and emotional burden by giving entire families a place to stay, meals to share, and the comfort of remaining together while being near their sick child during some of life’s hardest moments. Each year, Ronald McDonald House Houston serves as a home away from home for hundreds of families from around the country and the world. In a typical year, it hosts over 28,000 overnight family stays for more than 1,500 families as their children seek essential healthcare.
Over the past three years, I’ve run two half marathons and aim to complete my first full marathon prior to graduating from medical school. Acknowledging my privilege to have an abled and healthy body, I’m grateful for the opportunity to run on behalf of RMHC.
Every mile I run leading up to the race is for the parents holding on to hope, the siblings missing home, and the children facing medical battles no one should face alone. So, cheers to doing hard things, bettering the world around us, and having lots of fun in the process!
Thank you for taking the time to stop by my page, understand my why, and consider donating to my cause. Every donation means the world to me, so thank you, thank you, thank you! Together we can take strides in helping those in need of support!!
