Miles 4 Matty 2019. A ride for ALS Canada
Donation protected
Miles 4 Matty
On June 28th 2019, we will be cycling from New York's Heritage Field grounds of the original Yankee Stadium, to Toronto Ontario in memory of my brother Matthew Foley.
At the young age of 30 years old, Matthew was diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. He passed away 8 years later in December 2014 . Since his passing, I've wrestled with how to apply the energy of grief and loss to a worthwhile cause.
Why Heritage Field NY to Toronto?
Lou Gehrig hung up his cleats in May of 1939 after news of his diagnosis of ALS had reached the masses. Later that summer on July 4th, Lou Gehrig stood in front of a sold out Yankee Stadium and bid a fond farewell to the game he so dearly loved. This year marks the 80th anniversary of Lou Gehrig Appreciation Day.
As this is supported ride, we are requesting sponsorship donations to assist in offsetting a portion of the expenses incurred while on the road. All funds donated are greatly appreciated. Any funds raised above our target will be donated to ALS Canada to assist in reaching our fundraising goal.
