Mila's Amputation Surgery
Hi friends,
This is our fur baby Mila Grace. She is soon-to-be- 2 and has the most friendly personality, big heart and a genuine love for life. Mila's genuine love for life also leads to a natural insinct to explore, and smell all the things...after all, she is a hound! That being said, we almost lost her a few days ago when she took off out the back door and was hit by a car on Peeters Creek Road. Initially, we were told she had a 50% chance of survivial. Her temperature and blood pressure were extremely elevated, she had excess air in her chest, fluid around her liver and was bleeding into her lungs. She required oxgyen for 72 hours and was stuggling to breathe on her own. She spent 3 days at the emergency vet but, thanks to their around the clock care and thoughts and prayers from all of our family and friends, we recieved a phone call saying that the bleeding in her lungs had subsided and her body was fighting to heal itself. She is now on 30% oxygen (as opposed to 90% in the beginning) and the doctors are hoping to send her home within the next 24-48 hours. All of this is good news and we cannot thank everyone for their support but this is only the beginning of a long road and we still need your help! When Mila was hit (at 52 MPH) her front left shoulder and leg were completely shattered. We have consulted with 3 different vets and they are recommending that an amputation will be the best course of action. Since she is young, healthy and resilient (as we have have seen over these last several days) the specialists believe that an amputation, rather than a reconstructive surgery is going to be the best option for preserving her quality of life. Her amputation will be scheduled for the week of July 19th (we are still working on final details) . We have created this GoFundMe as a means to aquire some of the money for her surgery. We appreicate all of your support and any donation that you all can give will be more than helpful. We are SO grateful to still have Mila with us and want to do all that we can to get her back to her happy, fun-loving, active self. We love you guys and are hopeful for the future.
With love,
Tyler and Lindsay
