Some of our relationships have gone back so many years, even longer than when we opened our doors 4 ½ years ago as Milano Day Spa & Wellness Center. We are so thankful for each and every one of you. We hope all of our Milano family and community are doing well during these uncertain times. It warms our heart when we think about all of you, whether you have sat in our chairs and lounged on our tables, told us about your day, shared a laugh or a deep conversation, or even popped in to say hello. You have become part of the Milano community. Through our art of relaxation, we hope in any way that we have contributed to your well-being. We miss you and offer hope that you and your families are safe and healthy. We, as well as our staff, are so appreciative for the years of loyalty and support that you have so generously provided to us.
As you know, COVID-19 has had a devastating effect to our industry. We were forced to close our doors on March 21st with the shelter-in-place order and we cannot reopen at this point until April 30th at the earliest. This has put a tremendous strain financially as our staff members are commission based. Unfortunately, since we are unable to serve our clients, there is no revenue to provide them. Because we are commission based, our staff also does not have any benefits like paid time off or health insurance. With this loss of income, we must find a way to continue to pay rent and provide basic necessities for our families. However, at this point, we are unsure about when we can return to work because as you know, the spread of COVID-19 is exponential, and we now await for guidelines from the government, with the health and safety of our communities of the utmost importance.
Many of you have been so kind as to reach out to us and inquire about the best way to support us during this difficult time. We can’t tell you how much that has meant. It is difficult for some to ask for help. I can tell you that it is a difficult ask for us, but at this point we are forced to. We thought the Paycheck Protection Program would help with assistance for our staff and our lease and utilities, but we were informed that our spa structure is not eligible.
That being said, our spa would be grateful for any donation you can make to help us pay for rent and help our staff get by as well. We are hoping to raise $30,000 dollars, in order to get our staff through this difficult time and to allow us to be able to reopen to continue to serve our community. Your contribution will help ease some of the anxiety we are feeling due to economic strain. We are immensely thankful for any help you are able to provide. If anything, this virus has taught us the importance maintaining hope and positivity and the value of the human connection.
