Milagros Perez

Milagros is a 5th grade student at Twain Elementary. Recently, she was hospitalized due to paralysis and inability to breathe on her own. After many tests and days of uncertainty, she was diagnosed with Guillain- Barre Syndrome. It is a rare autoimmune disorder that affects the nerves causing the whole body to be paralyzed. She has been receiving treatment at the hospital, but she has a long road to recovery. She and her family could use the communities' help financially as they maneuver around this sudden change in their lives. Recovery for Milagros may take months to years and her mom will be by her side throughout this time, which means that she is not able to work or be home for her two other children. The family needs help to cover hospital food costs for mom, parking fees, gas, food for the family, medical fees, and other bills.
