Mila's Recovery Fund
Donation protected
On February 7th, my beautiful 22-month-old niece Mila was involved in an unfortunate incident while she was away from her home. She was bitten in the face by a dog. The bite tore off most of her top lip and part of her cheek. She was rushed to a local hospital where she was then medevaced to Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford for specialized care. She underwent reattachment surgery in hopes that it would be successful. During this time, she had to be sedated, hooked up to a feeding tube and a breathing tube. After two days of leech therapy, we were told that the reattachment did not take the way they wanted it to, and Mila would have to go through reconstruction surgery. On February 10th, she was transferred to John Muir Trauma Center where she is now undergoing hyperbaric chamber therapy with hopes of further healing before her reconstruction surgery next week.
All funds raised will go towards Mila’s surgeries and any future medical procedures she may need that are not covered by insurance. Donations will also go to supporting the family, as Mila’s parents will have to take significant time off work to care for her, and pay for other expenses such as hotel, gas, and food, as the hospital is three hours away from their home.
Mila and her family have a long road ahead of them with surgeries and continued therapy. My sister is more than likely to lose her job to take care of Mila. This traumatic event has been incredibly hard on our entire family, made even worse because we cannot visit Mila due to COVID restrictions. I know this is a difficult time for everyone, so if you are unable to donate, we would appreciate your thoughts and prayers or even you sharing this link! Thank you in advance for your support.
