In 2018, when my sister and I were just 12 and 14, our world changed forever—our mom was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer at just 38 years old. Since then, she has faced every obstacle with unimaginable strength, enduring countless rounds of chemotherapy, radiation, and surgeries in her battle against this relentless disease.
Recently, our worst fears became reality. After experiencing intense pain and tingling throughout her body, a visit to the ER revealed that the cancer has spread to her brain. Despite everything she has been through, she continues to fight with hope, love, and resilience. She still works part-time to help support herself and cover medical costs, even as her body endures so much.
But she shouldn’t have to do this alone.
Our mom adores us—her two daughters—and especially her granddaughter, who will be turning 2 years old in May. I know being a grandma has brought so much light into her life, and my mom dreams of watching her grow up, seeing her first day of school, and being there for all the little moments that make life so beautiful.
My mom’s greatest wish is to have more time.
