Miki's Continuous Orthopedic Battle

I rescued my dog, Miki, when she was 8 weeks old. She was found with a fractured femoral head and underwent surgery to removed the ball of her hip. Not only did she have this injury, she also had skin issues, is congenitally deaf, and partially blind. While she was originally going to be a foster, it became very clear after surmounting all of her obstacles together we had a unique bond and she ended up staying with me forever.

However, now that she is 4 years old, she has faced many orthopedic issues due to the injury she sustained as a puppy. She never regained full strength in her injured leg and her underdeveloped muscles caused her knee to tear on the same leg. We paid $4,000 for her to have it repaired, and when we thought this would be the only cost incurred we found out she had an infection from the surgery. MRSP- one of the most antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria a dog can have.

We opted to perform another $4,000 surgery to have the hardware removed and had dissolving beads with one of the only antibiotics the strand isn't resistant to placed in her knee, in hopes that the infection would disipate. However, she still had sores open up even after the fact, proving that there was still an underlying infection in her knee.

We have poured our all into our dog and her recovery. But in the past year alone we have spent $8,000, and now she has another appointment on Wednesday, May 21st for further diagnostics. They said the minuimum for radiographs would be $400 but they might want to do an exploratory of her knee and possibly even a CT scan and they can't provide an estimate for that yet.

We are completely run dry. We have exhausted all of our avenues and any other specialty hospital prices are even higher. If you could spare anything to help finally get Miki on route to being a normal dog who can freely run and play without fear of hurting herself or an extreme infection, we would be forever grateful.
