Mikey Remmers, the 10-year-old son of Tami(Regional Controller for Sycamore) & Mike Remmers, was recently diagnosed with TCell Acute Leukemia. Mikey had not been feeling well for the last couple of months and had frequently been doctoring up until just over a week ago his dad took him to the ER; after some blood tests, the hospital chose to send him by ambulance to Peoria Children’s Hospital, where he underwent several other tests which resulted in his devastating diagnosis of Leukemia. Within a couple of days, Mikey was transferred to St. Jude’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, where he has undergone many tests and procedures and has started his extensive treatments in/out patient that will continue for the next 12-13 weeks. Ultimately this is a 3-5 year treatment plan that starts rather aggressively and is managed and maintained throughout the next few years. Mikey is a happy, strong little boy and will continue to fight hard against this disease.
Mikey’s twin brother Max will be staying home with his grandparents while his mom and dad are in Tennessee with Mikey. This is the first that Mikey and his twin brother Max have been separated for any length of time. Max hopes to be able to get some visits in with his brother during his time away.
As we all know, this will take a toll on the whole family, not only emotionally, physically and mentally, but also financially. Please help us join in the fight for Mikey and consider donating and spreading the word to all of those that would be able to help, whether with prayers or monetary contributions.
Here is Mikey’s address we are sure he would love any well wishes:
