Mike Tellef's Funeral and Hospice costs

Mike Tellef is a proud retired police officer. He spent over two decades on the Peoria Police force. Then he went on to create the Public Information Officer position for both Peoria PD & Fire. He was the friendly face you saw on TV, reassuring the public. He was known as Officer Friendly, often stopping to watch local Little League games or pitching in somehow to his community. He spent a lifetime in service to others, and now he needs your help.

Mike is now in Hospice care. He's missing his left hip, which became infected and had to be removed several years ago. Confined to a bed, he never gave up, and always kept a positive attitude. He reached out to his high school sweetheart in 2017, and they immediately rekindled their romance. However, she is disabled as well and must seek her own assisted living, and Mike has moved into his new home, where they will take care of him round the clock until the inevitable

During the time when he was in the hospital, someone robbed him of some of his money. He had a neurological event which causes aphasia, and it's limited our ability to help find the culprit. He now needs over $4,000 a month to help cover his cost of room, board, and 24/7 care. He cannot do for himself, and needs specific wound and skin care as well as therapies.

At this time, because of the wound in his hip, heart failure, and kidney failure, he's been given 6 months or less to live. 

Please help us. We thank you with all of our hearts. Mike thanks you as well. He's humbled by the kindness he's been shown, but we still need to do more for the man who dedicated his life to being of service.
