Mike's Meet Mickey Mouse Wish

He was born on November 7, 1985. Mike is the oldest son, a devoted brother, caring grandson, kind nephew, loving cousin, and so much more. He can do lots of the same things that you and I can, but in his own way. Just 5 minutes with him and you will know his love of movies, family, and his dog Raider, and most likely you will know his passion for the movie and song La Bamba. Mike is a talker and his love for life is infectious.
Mike was born with congenital heart defects. Specifically: tetralogy of fallot (a congenital heart condition involving four abnormalities occurring together, including a defective septum between the ventricles and narrowing of the pulmonary artery, and accompanied by cyanosis); mitral stenosis; and pulmonary stenosis. He is currently suffering from thrombosis; currently there is a clot in his wrist. 
Mike is now 29. He has undergone 2 open heart surgeries, one at 3 weeks of age and one at 5 years of age. His condition has affected his speech, his growth, his mental development, his physical abilities, his immune system, and more; but it has not dampened his spirit. Mike has always dreamt of going to Disney Land or Disney World to meet Mickey Mouse and all of his other favorite characters. Due to his compromised immune system, his mom has always had to work extra hard to keep him well because for him the common cold isn't just an inconvenience. Mike spends lots of time indoors watching movies and listening to music. His movie collection is quite impressive, he has multiple copies of many, some never opened, and if you borrow one he will remind you to bring it back, lol. He has never visited Florida or California, he hasn't ventured far from his home in Tahoka, Texas, but with your help we can help make his dream a reality. 
Just this past month Mike has been battling pneumonia which has led to his mom, Mary, having to leave her job as an LVN to provide more hands on round-the-clock care. This is both a blessing and a curse. Due to the fact that she isn't currently tied to a schedule, she now has the ability to take him on his dream trip. His cardiologist had hoped that Make a Wish would take his case, but due to his age he is not eligible :-( Mike is currently on medication to dissolve the clot and it is our hope that he will soon be given a clean bill of health...Mikey style! 
Help us Make Mike's Meet Mickey Mouse Wish come true, help us send him to Disney! We are striving to hit our goal by November 7 so that we can surprise him with the ultimate present for his 30th Birthday!!

In the event that he is unable to be cleared to take the trip, all money raised will be used towards medical care and expenses. Our family has been blessed with him and we hope to have your help so we can give him this dream trip and maybe he can understand just how much he really means to us.
