Mike's moving emergency

People who know me know this: I rarely ask for help.

The few times I have usually involved personal requests to certain individuals or physical help in mounting a theatrical production. However, this is not to say that some people have offered assistance of their own accord. Such aid is gratefully received, and in some way, I always try to pay it forward.

I find that, due to some unfortunate circumstances, mostly involving my car (more than $9,000 over the last four years and the next year with a payment schedule) and other situations, I am in dire straits.

I was forced to move from the apartment I had for 24 ½ years when the previous landlord sold the property, and the incoming landlord raised the rent 125%. Realizing that I could not afford that, I initiated a search for a more affordable place; however, finding none, was gifted with a room to stay by a friend while placing my belongings in storage. This move to a storage facility cost much more than I anticipated, and I now find that my checking account is depleted.

Through a parishioner's contact, I have the right of first refusal on an apartment in the Mount Healthy neighborhood and would probably be moving by September 1st. But, that means that I need funds to do so.

Thus, I am humbly asking for help. I am starting a “Go Fund Me” page with the goal being $4,000.

I get it: this is an economy headed into a recession, and everyone has financial concerns. Money is tight.

While I thank Tom for his hospitality, I know that he will be happier with my derriere out of his abode.
