Mike's Mom Needs Vision-Saving Surgery

Hi, my name is Mike, and I’m reaching out for help for someone very dear to me — my mom.

She’s fighting to keep her independence and her sight. She’s already lost vision in one eye due to a damaged cornea and now urgently needs cornea transplant surgery to restore sight to that eye.

Right now, her other eye is healthy — but she’s at real risk of facing the same issue with her good eye in the future. If we can get this surgery done now and protect her vision, it will help her keep living independently and avoid the devastating reality of total vision loss.

Unfortunately, her insurance is giving her the runaround. The specialists who can perform this surgery either don’t accept her insurance, or they require her to drop Medicare and pay 20% out-of-pocket — an amount she simply can’t afford on a fixed income. On top of that, every doctor wants to redo expensive tests she’s already paid for, and they refuse to accept the results she already has.

She’s working hard and stretching every dollar, but now her retirement payments are being reduced every month, leaving her with even less for critical medical costs.

My mom never asks for help — she didn’t even want to tell me at first because she knows how busy I am. But I can’t stand by while she faces this alone.
