My good friend Mike Dale’s mother was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in October 2023. Since then, Mike has relocated to North Carolina to begin caring for her full-time as her sole caretaker. With his job in Gainesville, FL, the commute back and forth became unrealistic with his mom’s health. He has recently been able to find some work in North Carolina, but bills have been tight.

Over these last three months, Mike has been paying the day-to-day living expenses and rent back at home, with hospice care thankfully being covered for now. Shortly before Christmas, they had to move out of the relative’s house they were living with. They were able to move into another home owned by the family. However, it is just the two of them.

This situation has caused my friend a great deal of stress and despair. Pancreatic cancer has a very low survival rate and the time he has with her is uncertain. Being her main caretaker, everything from organizing things with hospice to other end-of-life care has been on him. I am organizing this fundraiser to help ease their financial hardship so they can focus on her care and their precious time together.
