Mike's Kidney Transplant Fund
Donation protected
UPDATE: My transplant is scheduled for 2/15/17! After attempts by 2 loving family members, the 3rd try was the charm. My mom will be my donor.
She will need to take 2-3 unpaid weeks off from work for her recovery. This is an extra burden for our family because my brother is in college and mom already took off several months last summer/fall to care for me when I was the most unstable and in and out of the hospital.
In addition to my mounting medical expenses, your support will help with travel, tolls, and and parking in NYC where the surgery will take place. My grandma is coming from Alabama to be my driver because I can't use public transportation for at least 6 months.
Thanks again to all who have supported with money or by sharing my story with others!
At 21 years of age I was diagnosed with kidney disease. It has been a rough journey; One of frustration and sadness but also one of tremendous love and appreciation.
In November of 2014, due to high blood pressure and abnormal fatigue, I was hospitalized. Doctors could not explain my condition. Despite growing ailments, I decided to leave to college. I wanted to continue my education more than anything. A month into the semester, things took a turn for the worst. Slowly growing weak and sick, I was hospitalized again. My life was going to change forever. The doctors told me my kidneys were failing and diagnosed me with chronic kidney disease. I was forced to withdraw from school, quit work, and remain from participating in daily routines, I was sent home. The disease spread so rapidly, I was hospitalized frequently, leaving me with no other option than to be put on dialysis and hope for a successful transplant.
This November, doctors delivered great news, giving me clearance for a transplant. I will be on the waiting list and have a living donor pending. If everything goes as planned, I should be getting my transplant within the next few months.
Through the roughest times I have been provided with an amazing support system full of strength and positivity. Unfortunately hospital visits, medical bills, and incidental expenses have exhausted my family's finances and are adding tremendous stress to my condition and to my family. Any amount of donation will alleviate some of the stress this unfortunate situation has caused. Throughout this journey of endless obstacles my only goal is to get back to my normal life, continue an education, and remember what it's like to live a healthy life.
You don't have to believe in miracles, but I do. Anything donated is everything appreciated.
