Mike's Journey Home - Supporting The Feit Family

Hello Everyone! My name is Ashleigh and I am a friend of Christy Feit's. Christy and I met through our children's sports, the small town community of Grand Valley ON and, fun fact, we are both twin Moms! I asked how I could help her family during this time, and she has accepted my offer to set up this fundraiser for her family.

The beginning of June 2023 brought the Feit Family to a very tough bend in their journey, when Mike, a loving husband and father of three beautiful children, received the preliminary diagnosis of Leukemia.

Since June 1st, Mike went through numerous testing at Princess Margaret, and has received a formal diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia or AML. The Doctor is awaiting some other results to decide what medications will be used for treatment. During this time, Mike will be off work for approximately one year. Mike is a Millwright at Rockwool in Milton. While he does have short term disability benefits, we all know this is never enough to cover expenses and support a family during a difficult time, such as this.

On June 6th, Mike received his first transfusion and is feeling good, and positive on the next steps. He is in very good spirits and is ready to fight the good fight to get back to his life with his wife and children. We have been informed the treatment could take weeks and or months.

Christy, who works at Grand Valley Home Hardware has taken on the role as Mike's caregiver, and she will be splitting her time between caring for Mike and their three children. Christy and Mike have full trust in their care team at Princess Margaret Hospital, and ultimately the goal is to bring Mike home and make sure the kids still have a normal day to day life.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude for all the support they have already received this week. Continue to keep in touch with them, sending them prayers, well wishes and support. They feel blessed to have the network they do, and the community of friends and family who they know will support them through this difficult time. Funds raised by your support will be used for bills, commuting 2 hours between home and hospital, and staying overnight when needed and any unexpected costs

While all of this is very overwhelming, Christy has set up a group to communicate updates on Mike's journey.
