Mike's hit and run - Recovery Effort

On Sunday night/Monday early morning (Jan 01) Mike was walking home from a holiday get together with friends. Instead of driving drunk, Mike left his vehicle and began walking home and started reaching out for a ride while walking from Buckner, MO. At some point during Mike's walk he was struck from behind by a vehicle going 65+ MPH hitting him on the left side of his body, throwing him in a ditch where he laid unconscious. When Mike woke up, with the left side of his body damaged and in severe pain, Mike pulled himself to the road out of the ditch in hopes that it would allow anyone to see him, Luckily it worked and a passerby called 911. Paramedics took Mike to Centerpoint Medical Center where Mike is in ICU.

Mike is able to communicate right now and is suffering from a Brain Bleed, shattered bones in his left shoulder, left arm and his left leg, Ruptured Spleen and severe nerve damage. There will be updates as he progresses.

Mike is a Father of 3 boys and 2 girls and the POA for his mother. He has taken care of everyone in his life and has always gone out of his way for people. He is truly one of the most real people you could ever meet in life. The impact this is going to have on his life is detrimental and heartbreaking, Mike was just trying to do the right thing and has had everything taken from him.

Everything that is raised will be used towards his recovery and to support him and his family as he is clearly unable to work now. Unfortunately, we all know what Insurance can and can not do for us. We understand that it is after the holidays but anything will help. There is enough for this man and his family to worry about in this time, Let us pull together and support him when it is needed most.

Scott (Mike's best friend), has know Mike for 25+ years and is POA for Mike's finances until he is able to do things himself. All Money Raised will be used to help Mike pay mortgage and bills to keep utilities going, Medical bills that are piling up and anything that Insurance will not cover to assist in his recovery. This is also going to be used to support his family as he is the soul provider, so food for his family and transportation back and forth to the hospital for treatment and rehabilitation.
