On December 29th, 2016, Mike Hackney's life was suddenly taken from this Earth. The Tuesday before, Mike and his brother Gavin, took a young man out on his first duck hunt, it was also their first paid guided hunt. This was the official start of Mike's dream, and we, his loving family, want to continue this by providing other children with the opportunity to learn how to hunt and fish in a safe and fun environment. Mike had been working his entire life to bring people together through his love of the outdoors, in hunting and fishing. Since he was a little kid, starting with his little brothers Gavin and Ej, he has helped many people catch their first fish or shoot their first duck. He began his hunting and fishing company in the summer of 2014, in order to get as many other people to join him in his passion. Earlier that year he also joined the National Guard, which quickly became another facet for his passion. He had such a loud and vocal sense of humor, and always wanted everyone to be his friend. Which always lead to him being the entertainment of his unit but also the reason they had to do many push-ups and laps. He was expected to leave the Army in February of 2017. We want to continue his legacy, by providing people with the experience and opportunity to share in his loving memory, by creating memories that will last a life time. The funds will go towards a youth fishing derby in the spring, along with getting Mike's Fishing and Hunting School, up and running. We are eternally grateful to any support given, to make the dreams and wishes of this beautiful, and wonderfully amazing soul of Mike Hackney, come true. "Sadden by your death, inspired by your life"
