Mike's Final Journey: Into Space

Update: We have raised enough for the entry level package! Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts! This package will allow him to fly to space to experience zero gravity, and come back down and be returned to us. We are shooting for the moon package if possible! That package sends his ashes to the moon’s orbit, where he will remain in orbit (forever?). It would be so amazing to look up to the moon every night and know he’s right there! Space. The final frontier. Something we all see but not all of us dream about.

Mike lived a life where he dreamt of space. It was something that fascinated him, and it consumed many of his thoughts. His absolute favorite shows and movies were about it, he wanted to learn as much as he could about it, and he even wanted to make it there.

He would have given anything to travel to space, or even live there forever, regardless of what he left behind (which tells you how important it was to him). Was it space’s deep beauty? The unknown of what’s truly out there? The shuttles you get to ride on your way? No one will really know his favorite part, but he’d take anything he could get, that is a guarantee.

Michael Phillip Nickerson was brought into our universe on September 28, 1988. He, tragically, was taken from this world unexpectedly on March 19th, 2025. His family and friends are shattered by this loss and only time will heal our hearts. He was an extremely intelligent man, with a kind and gentle soul. The world is less without him.

We hope and pray he finally made it to space.

But Mike was about facts. Why wonder when we can “make it so?” So we ask that instead of flowers, though beautiful, that you’d consider donating to ACTUALLY send our beloved son/brother/uncle/nephew/friend to the great unknown. There are several options, and the more money we raise, the deeper into space we can send (a part) of him.

We feel called to do this, as space was so much of what consumed him.

Michael’s celebration of life will take place on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 11am at the Kingsley United Methodist Church. A luncheon is to follow directly afterwards.
