Hello friends,
My name is Mike Payton, and I want to share something that has been growing in my heart for a long time.
I’m a husband, father, former youth and music minister—and I’m stepping out in faith to record my first full-length Christian country project, “Footprints of Life.”
One of the greatest honors of this journey came when I was selected as a finalist in The Sound of Small Town America: Season 2. As part of that experience, I had the opportunity to stand in the circle at the Grand Ole Opry and perform one of my original songs. It was a moment I'll never forget and one that further confirmed my desire to use music as a platform to encourage others and share my faith.
Over the past year, I’ve poured my life into writing and developing more than 23 original songs. These songs come from real places—growing up as a preacher’s kid, walking through grief, learning grace in hard seasons, raising a son with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, and discovering over and over again that God is faithful in every step.
These aren’t just songs. They are footprints of a life that God has carried through every valley and every mountaintop.

Why this music matters
Each song carries a message I believe people need right now—hope, surrender, endurance, faith, and truth spoken in love.
Songs like “Give It To God,” “Share The Gospel,” “Stand Your Ground,” and “Walk A Mile In Their Shoes” are rooted in Scripture and shaped by real life. My heart is simple: to create music that feels honest, familiar, and points people back to Jesus.

How these songs came together
Every song in this project was written by me.
Because I sing but do not play instruments, I used tools along the way to help me shape and hear the melodies and harmonization I was already carrying in my head. At times, I also spent countless hours listening through thousands of song samples just to find what best matched the sound and direction I felt these songs needed to go.
The vocal melodies and harmonization in the demos were performed by me so I could clearly communicate the heart and feel of each song.
My intention has never been to mislead or to hand over the creative process. I simply used the tools available to me to help bring my songs into audible form so they could be shared, refined, and understood.
Some of these songs have even been placed on streaming platforms as I learned the process along the way.

Where this is going
What I’ve learned is that while these demos are a powerful starting point, taking these songs to the next level requires professional transcription, arrangement, and recording with live musicians.
The good news is this: the songs are already here. The message is already written. The vision is already clear.
These demos have helped me communicate that vision and confirm that this is a path I’m called to walk.

More than music
If I never wrote another song, I truly believe these songs already speak to the struggles, questions, and realities people are facing today. But I also know there are still many more songs in my heart, in my head, and on paper waiting to be shared.
My dream has always been simple: to use music to encourage people, point them toward hope, and ultimately share Jesus through song.
In the near future, I also hope to begin singing in churches, if they’ll have me—sharing both the music and the testimony behind it. I believe this project can become the foundation for that ministry.

How you can help
I am humbly asking for help raising $7,500 to bring this project to life. Your support will help cover:
- Studio recording and production
- Musicians and arrangement work
- Mixing and mastering
- Artwork and packaging
- Digital distribution to streaming platforms
- Performance and ministry backing tracks
Why $7,500?
On average, a three-hour recording session costs around $2,500. My goal isn't necessarily to complete the entire project overnight, but to get it moving in a professional direction. I believe three sessions would allow me to make a significant dent in the project, laying a strong foundation for bringing these songs to life with the quality they deserve. Reaching this goal would give me the opportunity to begin turning years of songwriting, prayer, and preparation into professionally recorded music.
Every gift—large or small—helps move these songs from demos to professionally recorded music that can reach people who need hope.
If you cannot give financially, your prayers and willingness to share this page mean just as much.
I believe God can use these songs in ways I may never fully see this side of eternity. I simply want to be faithful with what He has placed in my hands.
If even one life is encouraged, healed, or drawn closer to Jesus through this music, it will be worth it all.
Thank you for reading, and for being part of this journey.
With gratitude,
Mike Payton
