I’m Beth’s cousin, Dana. We grew up practically raised as siblings and I always looked up to her, like a big sister. I always admired her strength, humor, tenacity, kindness, and generosity. I wanted to be just like her. As adults the admiration continued as I watched my dear cousin go to battle again and again, facing adversity of every kind. I watched her jump back up with fists raised, as if on springs, every time. Always ready to face the next challenge head on, and ALWAYS with an overall sense of positivity and unwavering faith. She is, without a doubt, the strongest person I know, and I have learned a lot from her.
On Friday March 8 2019, the Carlson family were dealt the biggest blow of their lives. Mike Carlson, beloved father, son, brother and husband and partner to Beth for almost 30 years, passed away suddenly in their home following a brief illness. We are all shocked and stricken with grief over this terrible turn of events.
Those who knew and loved Mike know what a wonderful and devoted father and family man he was. He was warm, kind, funny, and always had a wicked twinkle in his eye. If you were familiar with his particular “brand” of humor, you probably recall the feeling of laughing hysterically while shaking your head in exasperation.
My cousin, always ready to help a friend or family member, is now more in need of help than ever before. She is also one of those people who would rather do just about anything than ask for it. Therefore I have set up this account to raise funds in the hope that, at the very least, we can lighten the financial aspect of this tragic time in Mike’s family’s life, and help them begin the long process of healing.
