Mike Joyce-Celebration of Life Memorial

Michael Shawn Joyce passed away on July 31, 2020 in Golden, Colorado after being diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. He was diagnosed with a glioblastoma on June 26. Quickly into his recovery, Mike experienced a stroke and was transitioned into hospice care. Deepest gratitude is expressed to Denver Hospice, Swedish Hospital, Kaiser Permanente and ACCEL at Golden Ridge and to his three children, sister, oldest cousin and former wife who all worked diligently to ensure Mike received the best and most compassionate care possible during this stage of his life.

Mike spent his career as a devoted teacher, coach and athletic director in Denver Public Schools.  He will always be remembered as a: talented athlete, beloved coach and teacher, loving brother, father, cousin, and as Mike’s greatest joy of all-being a wonderful grandfather.

His children and close family are hosting special services for Mike at his favorite golf course, Raccoon Creek in Littleton. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation towards his service and his memorial.

Services will be held Friday, August 21st at 5PM at Raccoon Creek Golf Course in Littleton, Colorado. COVID precautions will be in place. Services will also be available online for guests who cannot attend in person. Please reach out to Shawn or Dee Joyce for more details.
