Mike's Pride and Joy, Jake Ecklund

Donation protected
On Sunday May 6th,  our beloved  friend Mike Ecklund  unexpectedly passed away.  This news is shocking to everyone in his community of friends, family and co-workers.

Mike never met a stranger and lived larger than life. He was a sportsman who played softball for most of his life and in his free time, rain or shine you could find him on the golf course or with a fishing pole in hand. He shared many baseball, hockey and football games with friends and family. A real Chicago sports guy.

He was a hard working man who owned his family business. He learned his trade from his father as a young man and created A1 Hardwood Floors.

Mike was the kind of guy who immediately brought a smile to your face. He was selfless and the kind of man you could count on for anything. A man of his word and the definition of integrity.

Mikes biggest Pride and Joy of his life was his son Jake.  Jakes name,  Always brought a sence of pride and a huge smile to his face.

He began teaching him at a young age how  become a strong independent man. This was Mikes favorite part of life. Nothing came first. Mike loved being a father and he cherished every moment they had together. From dinners out after long days at work, to teaching him how to fish, learning to play sports,  taking vacations throughout the country, Jake was Mikes life. He thrived on fatherhood and it was his number one goal in life to raise an integral, well balanced, tough,  loving,  educated child.  Mike taught by example. He worked hard, stood by his word, showed compassion and loved life.  We will all remember that laugh of his.

Jake is now 17 years old and weeks away from finishing his Junior year at Downers Grove South.  As Senior year is right around the corner, Jake will begin looking for colleges and start making career choices which will mold his future.  It is with broken hearts that we will all come together and support Jake and his future.

Jake is a bright young man and if Mike could ask any of us for anything, I truely believe it would be to watch over his son when possible. The reason for this gofundme is to collect funds in which Mikes best friend and mother of his child,  Christine Ecklund can put towards Jake's education and future.

Life will be difficult and drastically different for all of us without Mike. But no one will miss them more than Chris and Jake.

Mike did his best to raise an amazing son.
He was an amazing Man and Jake will also be an amazing man.   Thank you for being such love in Mikes life and Jake's future.  Your kindness will never be forgotten.
