Help Mike Wright Recover from House Fire & Death of Deb

In the early morning hours of July 8th, 2025, a devastating house fire ripped through a home in Hopewell, New York (Ontario County), killing Deborah Wright (age 70) and injuring her husband, Michael Wright (age 66). Deb had mobility issues and used a scooter, which may have resulted in her inability to escape. Mike attempted to go back into the burning home multiple times to get Deb, but unfortunately, the fire was too intense. Mike sustained 2nd degree burns and various injuries. Their home burned to the ground; only two external walls remain standing.

That home belongs to my Aunt Deb and Uncle Mike. Mike is my Mom's brother (Linda Victor; maiden name Wright). She is with Mike, in New York as I type this. Our entire family is devastated by this tragic loss.

We created this GoFundMe with hopes of easing the burden for Mike during this time of devastating sorrow and uncertainty. The fire occurred at 2:35am, so Mike escaped with only the clothes he was wearing while he slept. There is nothing left of the house, and their vehicle was also destroyed. Funds will go directly to Mike for whatever he may need: funeral expenses, rebuilding the home, replacing belongings, everyday needs, etc.
