Mike Vint raising money for the NHS
Please join me in making a difference to help raise money for NHS Charities by sponsoring me to undertake a Marathon over a period of 10 days.
My Name is Mike Vint and I’m a 77 year old widower living on my own in Fleet but well supported by my family, including eight grandchildren who help keep me young!
Eighteen months ago I was diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer and following chemotherapy I am now receiving ongoing treatment to keep any remaining cancer under control.
Our amazing NHS doctors and nurses have helped me through this difficult time and I am now determined to try to get my life back to normal.
That includes raising money for our wonderful NHS to help them care for Covid-19 patients and to keep us all safe.
Unfortunately, my ongoing treatment has caused me to suffer muscle wastage, which together with a couple of dodgy knees, means that I cannot run. But I can walk and so I have been doing two or three brisk walks a week around a 2.6 mile circuit from my home to try and improve my strength and keep fit.
And so, inspired by both Captain Tom and the 2.6 Mile Challenge, I am going to try to walk 2.6 miles everyday for 10 days, a Marathon task with wobbly legs and two dodgy knees.
My 26 mile Marathon will start on Friday 1st May and all money raised will go to NHS Charities Together / Association of NHS Charities.
Please help me to help the NHS by giving generously.
