Mike Ummer’s road to recovery

If anyone knows Mike Ummer, they know what a kind, giving, and gentle soul he is. I have known Mike for almost 20 years when I met and married his brother Erik Ummer. I have watched mike love his wife and be the best dad to his 3 boys. During the pandemic Mike received the news of his colon cancer diagnosis. Not only a few days later they announced they were pregnant with their third child. I have seen Mike and Lori fight this cancer with dignity and fierceness. They did fight it. Mike was cancer free after surgeries and 6 months of chemotherapy. Shortly after, they got the news that it has metastasized to his lungs. 1 year later, a new baby, starting a new job they are faced with another round of surgeries and chemotherapy. The stress they are going through, the uncertainty they see when they look at their 3 beautiful boys is mentally, emotional and financially crippling. We cannot take away mikes cancer, we cannot take away their pain. But I just hope that we can all ban together and just help with their medical bills. Help with time they have to take off of work. I know we are all coming out of this pandemic and are all fighting our own stresses. But I’m hoping we can relieve some of the stress this amazing family is facing.
