To the Thompson family, it is with great pleasure that Mike's LIRR family, generously contributes to your family- as Mike would do for all of us.
Mike was like the LIRR mayor as I knew him. Mike would always take time to talk to everyone. During his 30 years at the LIRR we all had the pleasure to work with him. Through the years there has been so many stories I've heard and stories I have been a part of. His stories made him such a great guy. He was a true leader guiding all the new employees and younger generation in the right direction. Making them understand how great of a job the railroad is and how it has allowed him to provide for his family. Mike would talk, talk and talk some more with everyone. Weather just to shoot the breeze or tell the blunt truth no one else had the nerve to say. If he had it on his mind he let it be heard. We all loved Mike for who he was. He was just a great guy we all came to work and enjoyed being around. Kept us all on our toes when we needed it. It feels like it was just the other day we were at LIRR working together and it has been 5 years already that he's been retired. The horrible "C" has taken him from us all way to soon.
Mike "T" you will be missed, Rest In Peace!!!
