As you know, Mike-In-The-Afternoon (Hits 102.7) was diagnosed with Prostate cancer last August. Through many doctor visits, trips to Mayo Clinic, and about a thousand tests, we have discovered that what initially was believed to be “not much to worry about,” has quickly become, “you need to have a radical prostatectomy… sooner rather than later”. July 3rd is the scheduled date for the surgery, at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. The procedure itself carries the usual risks of surgery, with added risk for his history of diabetes and heart attack. The operation will leave Mike with some less than desirable post-surgery circumstances and side-effects (I’ll spare you the ugly details, but you can google these for yourself).
Unfortunately, post-surgical recovery will keep Mike from being able to work for 3 to 6 weeks, in the best scenario. Of course, Mike, and his new bride Trina are hoping for the best! Although they are very blessed to have good health insurance through Trina’s work at Coca Cola, the expenses associated with treating cancer have already become insurmountable for them. Travel to and from Rochester, modest food and lodging, co-pays and deductibles; all have eaten up their savings. With conservative budgeting, it is estimated they will need to come up with another $10,000.00 before this is over; best case scenario. Many people have asked if they could help. Mike and Trina have always felt that fundraising should be reserved for those less fortunate than them. But the humbling and terrifying reality has quickly set in for them, and they really can’t do this alone. Their reserves are gone, and Mike hasn’t even had surgery yet.
Cancer tries to rob them of joy, hope, relationships, and money. So far, it’s only gotten their money. Cancer, by itself, adds so much stress. We want Mike to be able to go into his surgery not having to worry about the financial difficulty that this situation presents and the toll it will take afterward. Please join me and give whatever you feel you can. No amount is too small. We want them to be able to pay the bills, and also be able to meet other needs that may arise during this process of recovery after surgery. Your generosity will be much appreciated and is one way we can show our love to Mike and Trina.
Disclosure: As mentioned before, Mike's new bride is Trina. She will be withdrawing funds from this campaign on Mike's behalf to use for medical needs and any other needs that arise. We wanted to make sure that if Mike is not feeling well enough to do banking or to work on finances, that he will have access to the funds he needs, and could concentrate on getting better. Please contact Organizer with questions.

Not sure what the staff thought when they heard, from behind the curtain, " take it all off, real slow....show momma...."
